What You Should Know Before Parasailing

Parasailing is one of the most interesting recreational activities for you if you love adventure. However, as much as the activity is very interesting, you need to prepare adequately both physically and psychologically for maximum enjoyment. I am very sure that if you have never taken part in this awesome recreation activity before you have many questions like; is it safe? Is it scary? Is it suitable for my weight and age? Well, here are the answers to your question, what you should know before parasailing this summer.

1. How Safe are You as a Parasailer?

Well, I don’t want to begin this interesting conversation with a lie. Parasailing can be either safe or risky depending on two factors which include; the condition of the equipment that you use and the expertise of the parasail operator. Therefore, you should ensure that the parasail operator is adequately skilled and the your equipment meets the acceptable standards before you commit yourself to the activity.

2. How Scary is Parasailing?

You might be thinking that parasailing is one of those extreme recreational activities that almost take your breath away when starting. Surprisingly, parasailing is very peaceful and serene. In fact, when being supervised by a sufficiently skilled master, the take-offs and landings are so slow and controlled that you feel as if you are floating on air.

3. What is the Age Limit for Parasailing?

The minimum age limit for parasailing is 6 years. However, if you are below the age of 18, you will be required to come with your parent who will sign a liability waiver on your behalf. This age limit might also change depending on the legally agreed minimum age of consent in your location.

4. What is the Weight Limit for Parasailing?

The minimum combined weight limit for parasailing is normally 160 lbs while the maximum is 450 lbs. This means that you have to adhere to these limits whether parasailing alone or with a group of friends. However, these limits might be subject to change depending on the conditions of wind. The parasailing captain will inform you in case of any changes during your parasailing day.

5. What is the Height Limit for Parasailing?

Well, according to the Federal Aviation Administration, the maximum height that your parasail can fly is 500 feet vertically from the earth surface. However, the minimum height will be subject to discussion between you and your captain. You might find it enjoyable to even fly low to a point of doing a “touch-‘n go!” whereby you touch the surface of the water with your feet then fly up.

I wish you an enjoyable parasailing session.
